I’m feeling a tad bit anxious this morning. My banding is two days away. This is my last day at the the “day job” for two weeks. I’m way overbooked with things for a Monday…and I am so glad I know how to chant.

Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.

I am 6 days away from being banded. I’ve lost 16lbs since August 1st. My liver must be very happy to be smaller.

I am beginning to mourn the loss of:

toast

meats rolled up in pasty sold on sidewalks in Argentina (should I ever go to Argentina, of course. Damn that Tony Bourdain and his foody travel shows, any way)

I think that’s about it.

I am beginning to kvell about:

getting there, getting it done and getting home
my first sip of chicken stock after being banded
the first time I slip my undies on and they fall off
having two weeks off from the day job to recover, heal, chant and “learn my band”
having two weeks off to recover, heal, chant, nap and write!

Band day approacheth. Eegads and little fishes, I’m excited!

Nope, this isn’t me. I’m just using this spot as a place-holder for a n avatar on a character blog

This is the face of “Vesper” from Mooncusser Cove, available at Liquid Silver Books on 9/17.

I know a lovely lady who recently showed me a handmade purple and amber colored handbag. My favorite colors! I like handbags. They always fit when I try one on. I bought it, of course, and asked her to make me a special bag as a give-a-way item for “Mooncusser Cove.”

This custom-made bag was created in a non-smoking home, with love, by Bev! It is shades of blue with silver and black accents, including cute little moon and star dangles and a star-shaped key fob.

The photos don’t do it justice! Incidentally, my daughter is the model and not ten minutes before I snapped the photos on our back deck (hence, the mess), she’d been out with the horse, and was a bit grubby.

How to win this fabulous bag? How to win what I’ll stuff it with? Why enter my contest, of course!

1) Join my Google Group! (optional…but…please do!)
2) Fill in the missing words: Born in 1863 to a wealthy coastal family, Vesper Highgate-Adaire was well on her way to becoming a first-rate ______ just like her mother. A ______of boots and brass off the bodies of wrecked sailors, in accordance with family traditions—the traditions of the Mooncusser clan. Traditions that changed after the wrecking of a ship befouled by an accursed sea captain—who in his twisted rage, shared his curse with the clan.

(Hint: you can Google the portion of the blurb in red.)

Survey Form

This contest will run September 10-20. I’ll announce the winners once I awaken from my lap-band surgery induced painkiller and anesthesia fog :)

One entry per email address, please.

And don’t forget to buy your copy of Mooncusser Cove on September 17th (on sale 7pm Eastern)! Just think how happy I’ll be to awaken from surgery on the 19th to happy, happy, joy, joy readers emailing me with well-wishes and praises of my new book! (Hint Hint)

Thank you,

Darragha

My last supper–and in fact the first “big” meal I’ve had in 30 days, was chicken fried steak and eggs. Couldn’t eat it all, either. Way too much food.

I think my new shipment of Medifast should be here by the 5th, which is the date I’m going to make every attempt to go “liquid” in full to drop 5-10 more pounds before my surgery. I can do anything for 2 weeks. I hope. If I start gnawing on car tires, I’ll eat a chicken breast or a head of lettuce.

I walked farther and quicker than I’ve walked previously, too. Damn. I’m getting so fit. (insert laughter here).

Leave it to April Martinez, the finest cover artist in all of e-bookdom to tweak one of my ads and make it sooooo much better.

I added the web addy. The rest is all April.

Bless her for taking the time!

It took 30 days of 800-900 calories a day, no pizza, no milkshakes and more willpower than I’ve mustered ever before…but I am pleased to announce that I’ve lost

15bls of the necessary 20-25lbs lost before surgery.

17 days out. Can I lose 5 more pounds in 17 days? Bets are now being taken.
